Actually, the only statements directly regarding kink bingo in your original PM are the ones quoted above. Having already checked out your community and thought 'that could be fun', I was then shocked to read what you had to say about it. I thought: 'Did I miss something?' and went back to reread the profile.
The way the statements in your PM are written imply that you had a goal or a purpose in mind from the beginning, and that goal/purpose was not merely the enjoyment of kink. You even state that kink bingo has a 'basis in queer theory' which directly implies you knew where you were going -- and it was toward education and societal commentary -- from the beginning. (How can it have a basis in anything if it just occurred to you after the fact?) You do not imply that this vision of kink bingo as a political project came to you later, as a side effect.
In other words: the way you speak about kink bingo in your PM does not mesh with what is shown on the profile, nor with what you've said in response to the comment above. To me, that doesn't seem honest, and that weakens everything else you say. Either it's a political project of which you are proud... or it's not. It can't be a political project with thought behind it when you're arguing or making a point; and just a little fic community -- which you personally feel has political impact -- when you're not. I don't know you, so your choosing to discuss it differently given different audiences gives me the impression that you are either indecisive, or manipulative. Neither of which is your intent (I hope), nor terribly persuasive.
Apparently, I'm a minority for noticing and objecting, so ... grain of salt, I guess. I'm the type who reads the entire agreement when I buy a house or car, and I'm picky about my word choices. =)
