I had to resort to Wikipedia at least twice during reading it, too, so it's not like "The Student Prince" (which was my Merlin recruiter story, well, podfic, actually) in that canon knowledge is not necessary. It just really grabbed me. And yeah, it's funny, because I read it without having seen the show, I read it as a bunch of OCs and now, though I can see its relationship to canon, it's still hard for me to put Rodney's literal voice into my re-readings.
