Smallville lends itself to character vignettes, where shows like the Sentinel inspire more of the 300-K angst-o-ramas where Blair gets kidnapped and also amnesia and then sleeps with someone accidentally before finding out that there's a new Sentinel and then Jim gets protective and has sex with someone else and then there's a lot of misunderstanding and then they go "wait I love you" and resolve everything in two seconds before finally having 1-2-3-fingers-scissor anal sex while Not Being Gay.

I'd like to see someone try to make Lex be Not Gay, Just In Love With Clark. Just ain't happening. Bisexual - okay. Queer - sweet. Gay - rock on. Straight? I. Don't. Think. So.

Possibly, [livejournal.com profile] m_shell and I have concluded, this is one of the reasons we like Smallville. Although I wouldn't complain if there were more fun case-type stories with the appropriate people still really, really gay.

We can leave off the whole "We're Not Gay, We Just Love Each Other" style and also, as far as I'm concerned, any 300k stories involving So Much Angst They Should Be Institutionalized (tm).

Hey, I think I read that. Maybe more than once.

Don't forget the incredible amount of, say, Sentinel/Guide fanon that TS has. You forgot "Blair gets kidnapped and brainwashed into joining a cult for Guides (yes, with a capital G) which is training them to help Sentinels be assassins, but that's okay because Jim has a Psychic Connection to Blair and knows he's not dead, so they rescue him, and Blair, being Still Brainwashed, tries to leave Jim several times and return to the cult, and Jim has Angst, and Blair has a Two Hundred Degree Fever and tetanus or something because the evil cult tattooed him, and they have to go on the run from the evil cult, a task made more difficult by Blair trying to come back to the cult as they are running away, and there is a Car Chase or something and Jim fights the Evil Sentinel (because of course there is one) and then Jim and Blair have Generic Anal Sex somewhere along there." (Bonus point if you can actually identify the story I summarized.)

There's also the water-heater fanon, which, true, does not inspire similarly-gripping plots, but why the hell is there water-heater fanon anyway?

A Firefly discussion list I'm on is wondering about slash, and some of the people are saying, "Gee, those slash fans. If you ask them about their characters, they'll say they're not gay, just in love. I don't get it." (The slashers, of course, reply to say that they don't get it either. Now everyone is confused.)

I want more non-WNGWJLEO stories, and also lovely USTy case stories, in whatever fandom. F/K dS would be nice. XF would be nice, too -- there are, like, three M/K novels on the entire novel archive, and two of them are "Ghosts" and "Lovers," which, um, I've read. Non-BDSM M/Sk would be nice too. Also it would be very very nice if someone wrote a brand new TS story that was also actually good, and not elf MPREG. I would like that.
