Title: Building a Body
Fandom: Automata
Song: Poor Atlas by Dessa

Notes: I made two vids for the
wiscon_vidparty this year. This one uses Automata, one of the apocalypse films
thingswithwings and I watched last year for Dance Apocalyptic. I was sad that we couldn't get more of the film into that vid since the film is great. It's about robots and the future, and about robots performing humanity, and a little bit about disability. It's a great film and I don't want to spoil it, but I do really recommend it. Also it stars Antonio Banderas as an insurance adjuster, slumped over and tired because of the apocalypse. (There's a lot more of him in the movie than this vid would suggest.)

Lyrics:
I'm building a body
From balsam and ash
I'm building a body
With no god attached
I'm building a body
From blueprints in braille
I'm building a body
Where our design has failed
There's a book full of plans
At the feet of poor Atlas
Titled "For Man"
But the architects only drew blanks
Now there's nowhere to go
But go back, go back, go back, go back

I'm truly struck wordless, which seems appropriate.
/runs to find movie.

The movie was more beautiful than its script
Certainly the highest and best use of Dylan McDermot.
I think you captured the very best parts of the movie in this vid. But having just forced myself to watch Interstellar (why? oh why?) Automata seems nimble and new.

ETA - uh, oops, that posted before I was ready. I love this, it's so sparse and evocative. I want to watch the movie now.
