So this springs out of a conversation with sineala -- how many times has Daniel died, really?

The poll is behind a cut for the uber-spoiler-sensitive, but it only covers episodes through the end of season eight. Feel free to vote even if you haven't seen the show or all of the show or that particular episode; I tried to describe the death scene as best I could.

ETA: Mostly, I'm wondering because I was trying to count up Dead Daniels to see what the final tally would be if the SG-1 team were to sing the Buffy musical -- you know, "it's do or die / hey, I've died twice at least five times!"

My Daniel's Death Tally is broken down into categories: Mostly Dead, Presumed Dead, Injured and Could Have Been Mostly Dead, AU Dead, Declared Dead, and Virtually Dead

Mine, too, which is why "The Nox" dead is actually a little weird -- I mean, no one knows he's dead, so does it count? It's like a tree falling in the forest or something.

Also, I really wanted to put some of the Mostly Dead thingies on, like the rockfall in Need, and other AU-deaths like the one in There But For the Grace of God, but I ran out of ticky boxes. Sad, isn't it?

(I figure people don't dispute the movie, The Nox, The Light, Meridian, or Reckoning.)

My tally has Daniel being mostly dead six times. In the Nox, the Light, Holiday, Meridian; I use the old cardiac arrest definition of death. Meridian, Reckoning, and the movie are pretty much gimmies. He is, of course, only mostly dead each of those times because you can't come back from being all dead.

I also list thirteen other possible or alternate Daniel deaths. I find it very amusing that despite all of his deaths he wasn't dead either of the times he was declared dead in cannon.

Ooooh, does he really go into cardiac arrest in Holiday? I thought he did, but then I second-guessed myself. And the transcripts say he didn't.
