I said that I top with cheddar cheese, because I never make true scallopped potatoes, but only ones with ummy-nummy cheese (usually a cheddar/something else blend).
Also I usually make them with milk, not cream, although they are much better, of course, with cream; I heat the milk first, though, to speed things. I rarely (only on, say, T-day) plan ahead enough to only bake the potatoes, so I usually boil them first, then briefly casserole them ("Ow! hot! ow! hot!" I say, as I do that). I like onions, but Lena doesn't, so I don't usually do that. And side dishes shouldn't have meat. :P
