1. It sets a precedent for considering "interests" as "promotion of." That is, I am now not just interested but promoting the homosexual agenda (a joke), the postprocessual agenda (a theory joke), flannel pajama pants, and anthimeria (verbing a noun). Considering the variety of things that people list in their interests, some of which are illegal as read, this opens up a lot of potential for abuse. It means someone just has to report your journal, and you could be suspended. (At least one incest survivor journal was suspended for including interests like, well, incest.) So people are concerned that legal practice will be ignored because the phrasing involves words that aren't even illegal.
2. It sets a precedent for permanent suspension without a chance for defense, which is what the TOS tells us we get. And sets a precedent for ignoring the difference between communities that post fiction (or RPG) about squicky things, and communities that promote squicky things.
2a. This does not mean that it's not stupid to have incest in your interests. :)
3. ... and finally, fandom is a fickle beast. We pounced on lj, when there were a number of other options available six-seven years ago, but people have been slowly leaving after the 6A acquisition. If a critical mass of BNFs leave, that's all it takes to get a large part of fandom to move. :) I dunwanna have to track everyone down again.
