Today we anticipated rather a lot of snow, and in fact the snow started early -- almost before we woke up. So we planned for much good food.
m_shell bribed her fellow students to come over and study with her by offering buttermilk pancakes for breakfast, so I made said buttermilk pancakes (I got buttermilk, the good kind, from an Amish farmstand at Reading Terminal yesterday). Mmmmm. They turned out really well, actually, and I ate mine with yoghurt and thick honey. Very nummy.
Then, since it is a day with much snow and Cocooning is required, I made mulled cider. Mmmm, mulled cider. The cider is, naturally, also from Reading Terminal.
And then later today I will make hot chocolate. The real kind, which starts with unsweetened chocolate and vanilla and a ting amount of sugar and soy milk (so's I can drink it). My mom got me the most adorable little wire whisk for Christmas, which is perfect for things like hot chocolate on the stove, or whipping a half pint of cream.
And I will also make cookies with almonds, coconut, and chocolate chips. And I was going to make mushroom-barley soup, but I forgot that one of the students who's over doesn't eat mushrooms (!) and so instead there will be peanut sauce on cabbage and tofu. Mmmmm.
And I am sitting here cuddle next to a nice, warm radiator watching the snow bury the cars across the road. Ahhh, cocoons.
