Kink bingo is a political project with a basis in queer theory. Kink bingo attempts to redefine kink, to question the naturalness of our responses to certain kinks, to reclaim desires and pleasures that are marginalized, ignored, and maligned in the popular press. Our organization of kink bingo is not just a project in writing kink, it is an attempt to interfere in the discourses that produce the ideas of "kink" and "vanilla".
The above statement strikes me as disturbing. Nowhere on the kink bingo profile page is there any indication that it is a 'political project' that is attempting to 'redefine kink'. Nowhere does it state that the community is for anything other than the enjoyment of reading and writing "kink". Except for a statement regarding stretching your writing skills outside your normal area, there is nothing to indicate that the enjoyment of kink as "kink" is not the goal. In fact... isn't the "kink" sometimes the fact that the behavior can be construed as "kinky"?
I find it disturbing that something people are doing for fun is fodder for an agenda of which they are unaware. And the fact that you haven't stated this 'mission' on the profile page of your community, but are nodding along with and encouraging people to question the ethics of these scientists strikes me as hypocritical.
This isn't to say that the scientists are right and you're wrong or vice versa. Just... glass houses. If you really see your community the way you describe above, please make that clear there.
Personally, I enjoy reading and writing what I describe as 'smut', and sometimes that can mesh with 'kink' or with writing outside my comfort zone to fulfill a prompt. But I don't like the idea of being purposefully manipulated or re-educated behind the scenes. Tell me you're trying to make me question what 'kink' is... don't tell someone else that you're doing it without my knowledge.
