Yeah, in several of the places I've lived in the US there's been this whole "uneducated immigrant mothers endanger their baaaabies by not cleaning properly!" Which is full of assumptions about time, houses, spoons, education, etc that I just find so frustrating. And it is supposed to be embarrassing, and it's supposed to point out what an unclean person you are -- though I totally forgot that today until we were heading up to the counter to pay for the traps and I suddenly went, oh, wait, this is supposed to be humiliating.
Anyway, I am also interested in the differences! I don't know anything about pests in the UK, but it's so weird to think about pests as a freak accident rather than a consequence of bad behavior.
