eruthros: Delenn from Babylon 5 with a startled expression and the text "omg!" (BtVS cheeseman nonsense)
Karen Hughes made a statement this weekend (the weekend of the March for Women's Lives, just to make it really clear) saying that abortion = terrorism.
I think that after September 11, the American people are valuing life more and we need policies to value the dignity and worth of every life. President Bush has worked to say, let's be reasonable, let's work to value life, let's reduce the number of abortions, let's increase adoptions. And I think those are the kinds of policies the American people can support, particularly at a time when we're facing an enemy and, really, the fundamental issue between us and the terror network we fight is that we value every life.
*blink blink* Whoa. Where's my wtf? political icon when I need it?

So we value every life... except the ones belong to people in the army? Or to Iraqi civilians? Or to women who need abortions for medical reasons? Or all the terrorists we want to kill? I mean, look at that sentence. She's setting America up to look like MLK Jr or Gandhi or something, and I am pretty damn sure that we didn't just do a bit of non-violent protest in response to Iraq having lots of oil. (Er, I mean, having lots of WMDs.)

And the thing of it is, BushCo thinks that they're being subtle about the erosion of civil liberties and abortion rights. They think "oh, ha ha, we're doing it slowly so that no one objects." (cf Bush saying he's anti all abortions except in cases of rape, but that he feels that the political climate isn't ready for it. Implication: we're easing into it slowly.) WTF?

*sighs* Honestly.
