Phonepost transcription:
“Query: Why are airports so soul killing? I mean, here I am in Atlanta airport, because I'm flying back from Florida, and basically every flight is delayed, so there's not a seat to sit in anywhere. My flight has been delayed for about two hours but they're masking it by putting it on. . . under scheduled departure time, and then they say "on time" which startled me kind of a lot when I was, uh, trying to figure out which flight I was getting on. So there's not a seat to be had anywhere in the airport. People are sitting on the floor, people are sitting on practically the walls, people are sitting on pillars, people are sitting on phone booths and I am walking up and down Terminal D, because where else can you walk? And I've seen 3 or 4 people burst randomly into tears, just sort of walking along, and the next thing you know: absolute devastation. One of them it was because she couldn't find a place to smoke and had been in the airport all day, the others were not exactly forthcoming, or at least not loud about it.
But seriously, this is a big airport, it seems like you could put a Barnes and Noble in here somewhere. Maybe a Starbucks with actual seats. Possibly they could air condition it, that would be a help.
Anyway, I hope to get home at some hour, maybe, eventually, and then maybe I will actually get to check my email and LiveJournal, which would be hugely exciting because I haven't all week. See you then.”

Date: 2007-12-29 08:28 pm (UTC)It's like... come on, guys! Can't you get some more chairs in? I kept seeing the same people walking up and down, not willing to stray too far from the departure monitors, and with nowhere to be.
Ick.
