eruthrosI have never understood Abercrombie and Fitch's marketing strategy. The whole "our clothes aren't gay, we just put them on two topless men gazing deeply into each other's eyes. But they're not gay. Ewwww, gay! Really, they just love each other." I go: whaaaa? Thong underwear that says "kiss me" marketed to 8-year-olds -- whaaa?
But this takes the cake:
"The national clothing chain Abercrombie and Fitch has pulled its Christmas catalog, which featured page after page of naked young models and extolled the virtues of group sex, after several groups launched consumer boycotts of the company.
"The firm denied that its decision at the height of the holiday shopping season to stop selling the racy catalog -- which advocated orgies and group masturbation -- had anything to do with the protests. Instead, Abercrombie and Fitch said it needed to free precious shelf space for a new perfume and promised to return with a spring catalog offering more 'butts' and other nudity." -- from sfgate.com
Apparently the catalogue costs $7, and contains many pictures of lots of naked models. Quote from the catalogue: "Sex, as we know, can involve one or two, but what about even more? The menage a trois (three way) is not an uncommon arrangement. An orgy can involve an unlimited quantity of potential lovers. Groups can be mixed-gender or same-sex, friendly or anonymous. A pleasant and supersafe alternative to this is group masturbation." A: I really don't want clothing catalogues giving people sex advice. And B: said catalogues should not read like bad textbooks for third-graders. And C: has sudden squicked moment as pictures groups of models having sex. Their ribs would thwack each other. Owwwww!
From the pretty darn funny salon.com article: "Nothing says 'Christmas' like a good old-fashioned circle jerk by the fire." Also, it has pictures that make me go "whaaaa?" some more.
