Today, instead of sleeping or going to the farmers market, I thought I would stay home and have food poisoning.
Yes indeed, there is nothing like waking up at 3:30 in the morning and having to throw up right now no now to really make my day better. (I am quite pleased to say, though, that I made it from bed to bathroom in time and grabbed a hair clip and a glass for water on the way. It's the small things.)
So then I spent two hours alternately throwing up and having the runs and sitting on the floor feeling dizzy and hot and leaning into the cold wall of the bathtub and attempting to take small drinks of water. Also I brushed my teeth three times, thinking I had to be done now every time.
And I therefore turned off my alarm -- like, as if I was going to get up at eight and go taste strawberries -- and that was indeed a good move, because when I finally woke up I still felt awful.
I always find that one of the frustrating things about food poisoning is not knowing what was contaminated, because all the different kinds of food poisoning take different amounts of time to work. So I can be like, hmmm, was it the cheese I had at lunch? Or the yogurt that I had for breakfast? Was it the sushi I ordered for dinner? Or the packaged granola I had earlier?
Also I wish I had bananas. But I'm not going out. I'm just going to sit here in my pajamas and slowly drink water and maybe eat some rice and hope I stop being dizzy.
