1. For a vid I am vaguely contemplating making, I am looking for a triumphant saving-the-world type song - the sort of song you might vid women kicking ass to, if that makes sense. (The Eurythmics "I Saved the World Today" is topically right, but way too regretful, sadly.)

2. I am currently applying both a mineral sunscreen (mostly suspended in oil) and an oil-based bug deterrent (citronella, lemongrass, etc, in an oil + beeswax base). So my question is, in which order should I apply these things? Should I wait for a bit between them? The internet is full of answers to this question that presume DEET, which, like, ha, as if, I have tried many brands of DEET at work in the past and they all make me cough and cough and cough. So then I stopped using them, but I still had a ridiculous asthma attack at a state fair last year when someone sprayed it over their shoulder directly into my face. THANKS, assholes.

FWIW, if you're looking for bug sprays, I've previously been able to use permethrin-based insect repellant - the kind you soak or spray onto clothes and let dry - without any skin reaction. It's one of those things I only do if there's a really serious bug problem, or I'm going to be outside all the time, because I have to wear gloves and a face mask to apply the spray, but once it's on and dried I launder it once and then it's fine for me.

3. Why is it that, when I rewatch Babylon 5, I always end up rewatching "Infection" even though I know it will hurt me? I mean, okay, I am that kind of completist about fandoms, but I've been happily skipping the A plot of "Believers" (except for Kosh's scene) and "TKO" for years now. I don't know why I'm sitting here right now watching Ilya Kuryakin as a space archaeologist. I could be rewatching River Song right now! Who wins in a space-archaeologist-off by approximately all the points ever.

I saw a really good save-the-world kickass-type vid to Michael (Jump In), if you don't mind reusing vidded songs. I have sadly forgotten the vidder and the fandom. It may have been LoM?

I skip Infection, but I always watch Believers. YMMV.

I have long wanted to make either a B5 or a BSG (I can't tell which) vid to I Know I'm Not Alone. But that would be more "we must all hang on together during this war and isolation," so that doesn't really help.

Babylon 5, Lyta Alexander! So I'd prefer for the song to be sung by a woman, but it's not really necessary.

YES! Just once. In the worst episode of Babylon 5: 1x04, Infection. He plays a SPACE ARCHAEOLOGIST, mostly by slouching around with his hands in his pockets the whole episode.

It's an amazing role. He talks about corporate-sponsored archaeology so that Dr. Franklin can explain how it's wrong! Then he talks about amazing things he did on other worlds that they don't have the money to show us!

I don't think it's bad! But I am the kind of person who watches episodes of CSI for my favorite actors, so I wouldn't have a leg to stand on even if it were bad :)

Also, it's just episode 1x04! If you decided to watch B5 you would be there very quickly :)

*grins* Well, I love Man From U.N.C.L.E. I adore Sapphire & Steel. I freely admit to only watching NCIS for Ducky, though. :P (And Pauley Perrette.)

It's just.... of all the reasons to start watching Babylon 5!

Man, I wish I could watch NCIS for Ducky and Abby! Instead I get distracted by how much Tony gets on my nerves. :)

Just saying, if you want to watch it, you should watch the pilot ("The Gathering") first, and then do 1x01 ("Midnight on the Firing Line"). The pilot wasn't included on some of the DVD sets, so it gets very confusing.

My rewatch this time is basically 100% because I convinced livrelibre to watch it, and so obviously I have to keep up so that I can watch the best bits with her. Obviously.

PS: Other big deal actors on B5 include Walter Koenig (as a recurring guest), Bill Mumy (who was Will Robinson of "Danger Will Robinson") and Majel Barrett (as an Empress).

Okay okay you may be convincing me a teeny bit. Maybe. I will try the pilot, this is what I will do.

The Ducky and Abby Show would be great; I would watch them solve many crimes!

The pilot is pretty bad and is missing some of the main characters, sadly! But it does have G'Kar and Londo and Delenn in it, who are great. Also it has, like, council meetings and politics, which is the good part of B5 most of the time - people get arrested for things and there's an advisory council and treaty meetings and etc.
