Yay for food

Today for dinner I made a pretty fab recipe from Mollie Katzen online -- Arizona Pumpkin Soup.
We have high-hue cayenne powder so I had to fake that measurement (la la sorta around two teaspoons cakes). It was pretty spicy, but I don't know how it would turn out with Standard Cayenne. I did use canned pumpkin (I know!) because I had some left over from a pumpkin soy mousse recipe (really) last year. And I actually did the timed sauteeing, which I usually don't. But hey, new recipe.
It turned out very interesting -- sorta Southwestern hot-and-sour soup, with a hint of sweet. It could have been sweeter (crap canned pumpkin?), but it was quite good as was. And definitely would whack through any possible sinus infections. Tangy-sour-lime front taste and hothot back taste and good texture. Nummy. We ate it with a bit of yoghurt on top (well, we never have sour cream) and scallions. And with toast, because almost anything is better with toast. Although if I were to do it again I might do salty baked tortilla chips or quesadillas instead.
