Apr. 9th, 2005 04:17 pmSo last weekend we went to D.C. to see cherry blossoms and museums, partly for
m_shell's birthday. On the walk around the tidal basin to see cherry trees, you pass the FDR memorial, which has a big carving of "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
Naturally, I started riffing:
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself! Fear and surprise. Surprise and fear. The only two things we have to fear are fear and surprise and ruthless efficiency. Our only three things to fear are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency. And an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope. Our four -- no. Our fears -- amongst our fears are such varied elements as fear, surprise -- I'll come in again.
Yes, I am a gigantonormous dork.
