Best headline EVER: "Pants found in ravine." Way to make the readers wtf, Sf Chronicle!
That's a screencap from Bookworm Adventures, in which Lex must spell words to defeat baddies. Yesterday, I found "bad wolf" in the letters, and snerked at myself for finding it. (Normally I'm looking for letter patterns that'll let me make words like "acquiesces.") Now, if the game would only have accepted it as a word? That would've been cool.
Okay, this would have been a good episode if you cut all of the Lucius bits. I mean, the conversation the team had about superheroes? That was great! And Rodney and Ronon telling sort of pointed superhero stories! And Teyla being skeptical! See, that part was good. Just... cut out everything that has to do with Lucius. And them being all "perhaps he's learned a lesson" -- yeah, we're all okay with the rapist asshole bastard now that he's not actively using Pegasus!roofies! GRRRR. OMG I hate this whole Lucius thing so much.
And with the personal shield, because that's clear evidence that they've forgotten continuity entirely. Note: nothing gets through the personal shield. That would include needles. And beverages. And foot massages. Also? The personal shield only works for the person who activates it. They are so bad at everything.
But I loved John's total instant disbelief, and the way he didn't buy it for a second. And the way John wanted the foot massage to stop. And didn't understand that people wouldn't believe him. John was kinda adorable, with his total willingness to shoot Kolya through the window and absolute hatred of Lucius. And John running back to save McKay, and Kolya's huge antagonistic man-crush on John. John striding into town with a little tense smile and the little raised-eyebrows-instead-of-a-grin when they shot him and it didn't work? And his quick-draw? And the smirk when he gave Lucius a depleted personal shield and didn't say anything? That I liked. A whole lot of love for John.
And for everyone for volunteering to get shot first.
Oh, and Ronon jumping on the grill of the jail to try and open it? That was fabulous.
Also, my new icon involves evil clockwork Santas peering at the TARDIS. Who can possibly resist evil clockwork Santas?

Anyway, I was thinking of you and your writing critique group when I saw this other post today, and thought you'd be amused. Check it out- Paper Grading: the Text Adventure (http://eye-of-a-cat.livejournal.com/176383.html).

Date: 2006-12-24 06:06 pm (UTC)OMG that is hilarious and brilliant and should be a real text-adventure. It couldn't be any more difficult (or weirder) than some of the late 80s ones.
