So yesterday I got together with [livejournal.com profile] thingswithwings and watched all six episodes of SGA that I missed, what with being in the Middle of Nowhere. (It was ... kinda a slog, you guys, six episodes in a row. Especially since we got the vividcon vids in the middle of the day, thus necessitating some vid watching as well.)

So here is something I have observed about Woolsey. And John. Behind this cut here )

Next in line: six episodes of Doctor Who. I'll get there! And then I can watch "Handlebars" and other Vividcon vids! It'll be awesome.

One short and silly thing, the other long and full of a queer reading of the ep.

tons of spoilers, assume for all aired eps )

*deep breath* whoof. I have no idea if that makes sense to someone who wasn't involved in the conversation -- let me know if not, and I'll try to figure out where I've gone wrong.

So after (re-)watching "Common Ground,"1 [livejournal.com profile] graycastle and I decided to rename SGA.

We will henceforth be referring to it as "porn."

As in, "Well, the interesting thing about Porn season two is the way the arrival of the Daedalus limits the tension of every episode..." and "I've never really understood the authorial choices in Porn. I mean, I know what I read into the scene where they come out of the infirmary in Echoes, but what could the Porn directors have possibly thought?" And, in a couple weeks, "omg squee Porn 4x01 airs tonight!!!!!"

I mean. John. "Common Ground." JUST SAYING YOU GUYS.

1. This is part of our ongoing weekend project of Watch Neat Episodes Before Season Four. It probably says a lot about us that we, so far, chose "Underground," "The Storm/The Eye," "Hot Zone" ([livejournal.com profile] graycastle didn't remember this episode much, and I kept pushing all "no! no! Rodney makes awesome faces! there are other scientists! he loves his TEAM, man!"), "Inferno," two scenes from "Sateda," and "Common Ground."

We intend to also watch: "Tao of Rodney" and "Echoes" and maaaaybe "Phantoms." And maybe "The Game." And maybe also two scenes from "Sunday."

Note: there is only one season two episode in there. We tried really hard to be excited about something else. But "Grace Under Pressure" basically equals "Tao of Rodney" in terms of character development, "Epiphany" is way cooler in stories, and "Duet" makes me a little tooth-gritty about gender. SO.
eruthros: Doctor Who: the TARDIS in wrapping paper and a masked Santa (DW - christmasy)
Best headline EVER: "Pants found in ravine." Way to make the readers wtf, Sf Chronicle!

picture behind the cut: the bad wolf really is everywhere )

Spoilers for SGA 3x13 Irresponsible )

Also, my new icon involves evil clockwork Santas peering at the TARDIS. Who can possibly resist evil clockwork Santas?

SGA! OMG SQUEE.

(Note for the spoiler-phobic: that squee is not episode-related squee. It is "the episode is here! finally! hiatuses sucks! omg!" squee.)

poker face; discussion of whole episode behind the cut )
eruthros: SG1: Daniel Jackson, text: "I never wanted to be an archaeologist... I wanted to be a lumberjack!" (SG1 - A Lumberjack!)
Okay, I'm out of the habit of writing episode reviews, but I had to say just one little thing about Sateda. And then it kinda... grew. So. Spoilers for both Stargates, comments on both eps.

spoilers for SG1 )

spoilers for SGA )
eruthros: Delenn from Babylon 5 with a startled expression and the text "omg!" (SGA - be a genius)
Also, for those of you who were waiting with baited breath for my opinion on the important spoilers for SG-1 10x03, Pegasus Project )

In other words, this is a silly attempt to de-GIPify this GIP, because none of you care in the slightest how I felt about said issue. Still: "be a genius, damnit!!!!" is funny, right?

ETA: Also, transcribing 19th century medical theses is incredibly difficult, not least because they are written in very bad longhand. On top of that, of course, there are puzzling out phrases, like "clitoridean crises" (needs iconage, doesn't it?), and weird sentence constructions, like "Inquire dilligently which precedes the same in enfeebled digestion." Eep.

ETA II: Also, it is free for the taking, if anyone else wants a strange and odd lemon icon.
