Best Moment of Emotional Intimacy: cornerstone by [personal profile] puck
(art, Code Geass, Lelouch/Suzaku, service)

Most of these are from Lelouch and Suzaku's big emotional arc, but just for fun I maniped some from the picturebook extras, too.

twenty-three very spoilery Code Geass icons )

And also a pinch-hit Blackout Prize for [personal profile] drunken_hedghog: 8 NCIS icons, mostly Tony/Gibbs, mostly D/s or bondage.

eight NCIS icons )
eruthros: Katara from Avatar: TLA making an eye-rolly sort of face (Avatar - katara rolling her eyes)
Um. There are ... more than a hundred (spoilery) Avatar icons under this cut )

So, um. How I ended up making a hundred plus A:TLA icons.

I liked the show a lot, and when I watch shows in genres that are relatively unfamiliar to me, I try to pay attention to the structures of the genre so that I can figure out what the show is trying to do. Anyway, one of the ways I do this, sometimes, is through screencaps and iconing, because screencaps and iconing involve figuring out how a show frames the characters and the scenes, how it conveys emotion, how it plays with space and color and things.

And I liked Avatar, and starting with the second season -- I'd watched the first mostly while doing other things -- I started screencapping it to try to get a sense of the genre, and then I started iconing it, and then I didn't stop. And then today I was having a shitty day, and I thought, fuck it, I will just upload all those icons that I made and then enjoy looking at a table filled with all the awesome characters from Avatar. Because they are awesome. Hang on, I'm gonna go be reminded of how awesome they are some more.
eruthros: Farscape: John and Harvey in bunny suits (FS - John and Harvey in bunny suits)
So I was thinking about the [community profile] kink_bingo mini-challenge for this month as I was editing the kink wiki and putting in examples. And then I thought, wow, actually, I can think of a whole bunch of characters who dressed up in fursuits orfeather-suits! I should make an iconset of them to demonstrate how prevalent it is! So then I did.

There are 32 35 icons (thanks [personal profile] sabinetzin!) of people in fur/feathersuits under the cut: Mythbusters, Life on Mars, Boston Legal, Buffy, Middleman, Gravitation, and Farscape.

Sample:
001
002
003

furry iconset )

Aaaaand then I thought, while I'm uploading icons, I'll put up some Misc Iconage that I've done recently. This set includes Mytbusters kink icons, Doctor Who, Star Trek TOS, Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner, Rachel Maddow, Yellow Submarine, Hustle, White Coollar, Lord of the Rings (!), X-Files, Nichelle Nichols and Zoe Saldana, some stock photos of photography and tomatoes, and an educational comic from the 1950s.

I don't even know what all of these were for! )
eruthros: Grant Imahara from Mythbusters wearing a Star Trek TOS science uniform and Vulcan ear extensions (Mythbusters - grant in a star trek unifo)
I ... don't even know. I was just sitting here! And then I was making Mythbusters icons! Some of them even involve Jamie smiling. Like, he's having an emotion or something.

Sample icons, none of which involve Jamie smiling, but I promise there are some:

001
002
003
Forty (!!!) icons below the cut. There are: seven Jamie and Adam, twelve Jamie, four Adam, two Grant, two Kari, one Tory, one Scottie, one Scottie and Kari, one Adam and Grant, three text, and six animated icons )
eruthros: Grant Imahara from Mythbusters wearing a Star Trek TOS science uniform and Vulcan ear extensions (Mythbusters - grant in a star trek unifo)
I was googling for images for something else last night when I came upon the following information: MYTHBUSTERS IS GOING TO TEST THE GORN CANNON FROM STAR TREK TOS. It totally deserves the allcaps, because this is going to be awesome. A) Kirk makes his own gunpowder and fires diamonds and b) Grant bought himself a Star Trek shirt. Yes. The build team is going to test it, and so Grant bought a TOS science-officer shirt and some Vulcan ear extension things and a communicator and a tribble and a yellow shirt for Tory and a red shirt for Buster. And then he took pictures of it all! For reals!

SO, as a consequence, I made an icon, because what can you do when faced with that much concentrated awesome?

And, while I'm posting icons, I thought I'd include some random ones I made in the last few days or found in my icon-making folder. Three more Mythbusters, three Dead Zone, two Sentinel, three of Martha Jones being awesome, one SG-1, one Batman comics, and a whole bunch of video game icons )
eruthros: Delenn from Babylon 5 with a startled expression and the text "omg!" (B5 - Delenn OMG)
As I was going through my image folders today, I discovered a sub-folder in my icon-making folder called "bases," apparently dating to about 2004 or 2005. And in it, I found forty Babylon 5 icon bases, all textless, and all or almost all from season one. I have a vague recollection of this -- I think that it was a period in which it was quite difficult to find screencaps of B5, and the DVDs were either not available or expensive, so I found someone who had a bunch of screencaps in zip files and was overjoyed. Apparently, overjoyed enough to make forty icon bases. And then forget about them. But here they are, in case anybody is looking for B5 icons. (If you don't have your own photo-editing software, I'm happy to add text for you.)

Below the cut you will find icons of: G'Kar, Londo, Ivanova, Delenn, Na'Toth, Sinclair, Franklin, Bester (!!), Morden, Vir, some random props I don't even know, and possibly some things I'm forgetting.

Icons under here )

I do sort-of remember why I wanted some of these. I think #27 was going to be a something-wicked-this-way-comes icon for political links, and #30 was going to be a "help! I'm being sucked into a new fandom against my will!" icon. Also, I quite like #1 and #35, but I have no idea what I wanted them for.
eruthros: Doctor Who: the TARDIS in wrapping paper and a masked Santa (DW - christmasy)
Best headline EVER: "Pants found in ravine." Way to make the readers wtf, Sf Chronicle!

picture behind the cut: the bad wolf really is everywhere )

Spoilers for SGA 3x13 Irresponsible )

Also, my new icon involves evil clockwork Santas peering at the TARDIS. Who can possibly resist evil clockwork Santas?
eruthros: Asterix comics: Fulliautomatix hit with a fish, captioned "thwap" (Asterix - fish thwap Fulliautomatix)
Note: this bit was written last night.

OMG I am watching Stargate:Infinity and it is perhaps the worst thing ever. I think the animation is by the same people as "Captain Planet" only, you know, ten years later. Except with Neon Genesis uniforms.

The theme song? "Built by ancients so long ago / the stargate later we broke the code / now it takes us through the universe / on our mission to get back to earth." No, I am not kidding. Yes, I believe they are trying to rhyme age/code and universe/earth.

"Being an office, a soldier, just being an adult for that matter, means making decisions and living with the consequences." Wow, thanks for the after-school special!

Also, there's a Deanna Troy character: "I sense that it understands that we want to be friends."

Also, the villain must explain his entire plan all "then, I did ..." and "then, I shapeshifted." Oy.

They find a sort of Alien chest-bursting alien and say "could it be an ancient?" Ah, yes, the Ancients were frequently represented as sorta green snake things on the show. Or, wait, maybe that was the Goa'uld.

Oh. And they ride around the universe in dune buggies and a motorcycle and one of them has mechanical wings. Mechanical. Wings. That enable him to smash through stalactites without getting bruised. It's, um, magic.

***
And a grab-bag, so I don't make another post with single-line paragraphs:

Citizen's bank may suck, but at least it doesn't suck this much.

Also, I am looking for a yarn I saw in passing lo these many years ago. I want to make a little shoulder bag from it. I'm pretty sure it was a Noro, hand-painted, but not a silk or wool; it was a cable, probably DKish weight, and vaguely... metallicy and thick. Not actually metallic, but with that weight and texture and shine that one associates with synthetics. I dunno. It was selling for around $12/skein, back in the day. Anyone know it?

Bush gets a belated thwapping for this statement on the Iraq war: "We'll succeed -- unless we quit." That was in the context of a speech in Vietnam about what we learned from the Vietnam War. Yeah. Really. *pulls out backup mackerel* THWAP.

Also, fish-thwap related not-so-G-IPing. Sadly, this is not Gabe, and his fish is not broken, and it's, like, cod shaped and not mackerel at all. Nonetheless, it is a fish-thwapping icon, and all I had to do was scrub out the previous text and some of the motion blurs and repeat the noise. Whereas I'd have to draw Gabe-forlorn-with-fish.
eruthros: Delenn from Babylon 5 with a startled expression and the text "omg!" (SGA - be a genius)
Also, for those of you who were waiting with baited breath for my opinion on the important spoilers for SG-1 10x03, Pegasus Project )

In other words, this is a silly attempt to de-GIPify this GIP, because none of you care in the slightest how I felt about said issue. Still: "be a genius, damnit!!!!" is funny, right?

ETA: Also, transcribing 19th century medical theses is incredibly difficult, not least because they are written in very bad longhand. On top of that, of course, there are puzzling out phrases, like "clitoridean crises" (needs iconage, doesn't it?), and weird sentence constructions, like "Inquire dilligently which precedes the same in enfeebled digestion." Eep.

ETA II: Also, it is free for the taking, if anyone else wants a strange and odd lemon icon.
eruthros: SG1: Daniel Jackson, text: "I never wanted to be an archaeologist... I wanted to be a lumberjack!" (SG1 - A Lumberjack!)
So. I don't know. I saw this cap of Daniel from "Orpheus" and thought to myself "self, there is someone with a very pondering, wistful expression." How I got from wistful to really wanting to be a lumberjack is anybody's guess. (Also, P6J-908 is the planet from Zero Hour with the incredible growing plant. I can never remember the designation for any of the "lovely. trees." planets.)

This is also my first attempt at animated text. *peers at icon dubiously* I find ImageReady basically 100% baffling. But it doesn't seem to have blown up yet.

Yesterday I worked all of our required hours at the co-op in a row, thus causing back pain and knee spasms. Still, it's nice to be done. (And they told me I was a fabulous cooperator!) But. I have this keep-on-trucking problem; it's useful for tech work and manual labor, because I'll just keep going. Like, forever. As long as there are still things to get done, I'll keep doing them -- great in terms of never failing to get the shop door up even at two am, but a bit of a bummer the next day, when I discover that lifting heavy boxes for six hours has given me incredible knee pain. (I'm in my mid-twenties and have Jack O'Neill's knees. It hardly seems fair, but it's one of them bone things that you can't really do much about.) Blahblah whine.
